RM - Common conventions of music videos

Focus on vocalist signified through low angles as well as more shots of him/her compared with the other band/group members

Group shots of the band together

Lip-syncing

Fast paced/Short shot takes (depending on genre)

One-shot vids (anti-vids)
   Examples:
      U2 – One  
 Multi-Layering/SFX
   Example:
Use of stereotypes – Gender/Sexuality – Female/Male gaze
Computer graphics 
   Example:
      U2 – Vertigo
Product Placement
   Example:
      Black Eyed Peas
Lighting – Pop is made glossy (Britney Spears). Rock is low key (Nirvana).
